Apple again~ Wohooooo~

What's up everybody!! I am back after a week of absent. Today I made Apple Crumble with my landlady (cough cough). The most awesome, marvelous and enchanting roommate "Herliyani" (I watch too many Disney movie). Anyway, I have been sidetracked from our topic.

Ok so our focus today is = Ummm.... Yeah..... APPLE~~

In Hebi's unit there are no mini oven, microwave nor any appliances that can substitute THE MIGHTY OVEN. So, I have decided to make a No Bake Apple Crumble, I kept it as simple as possible to safe us from the pain of cleaning up. In the end I magically combined the instruction of No Bake Pie Crust from DivaScanCook and used the apple filling from Apple Pie from RunnyRunny999.

After 30 minutes battling with rebellious stove, naughty pan, multi-cooker, spoon and fork with Hebi assistance and prayer.

Dun....dun....dun..... Voila!!! It's done!! The Extraordinary Apple Crumble!!
"It might not look that great but it taste alright" (Hebi)

Disclaimer : Imagination and creativity are needed to concoct this complicated dish which will crumble on your palm, fork, spoon or any imaginable surface.

Home alone

(Yea I know, been awhile, I shd post the other entry first before this one.. Bla bla bla)

So a while ago I got myself a curry mix pack coz I was curious about how coking one of those would taste like. Never got around to making them until now heheh. It's the Vermont Curry (mild) - curry with a touch of apple and honey ( I got this one coz I don't like my food spicy :p) that's what it says on the front of pack and the back has directions that requires me to have meat, onions, potatoes and carrots to accompany the sauce. Since I've already got everything else except the meat, I went to buy a chicken boneless breast meat last night so that it'll be fresh.

Since my parents went back to my country of origin, leaving me and brother alone, and bro is out tonight, and I'm lazy to order delivery (been doing that for the past few nights now) I decided to be a bit productive with how today went. So here's what I did:

First I cooked the rice since I know that will take about an hour to cook. Then I got the ingredients out. Shot a picture. Cut the onion, potatoes (I cut extra coz I like them), carrot, hack the chicken and cut myself in the process(jk). Take another picture.

Don't really wanna cook it straightaway since i just cooked the rice. Read the instructions. Noticed that the last step requires 20 min. In the meantime, I did one batch of laundry (washing machine), clean the dirty dining table, cleaned just a bit of my room? Then I proceed to cook! Yay! How exciting!

Sautéed the other ingredients. I put my onions over the olive oil first, followed by potatoes and carrots and last the chicken. Direction says that I have to continue until they are brown but I think it's good to go when the chicken is white. Shot another picture. Drench the whole thing in a cup thereabouts of water (I cut the recipe down to about a third) and wait a while until it boils while stirring. Take another picture. Then comes the fun part: the curry mix!

So I just broke the 'cubes' and use 2 parts (there were 6 'cubes') and I started mixing. At this point the rice is done (I overestimated myself) and I gave that a stir. Now comes the fun part: since stirring is such a brainless activity, I decided to multitask (yes you read it correctly guys, I multitask) between stirring the pot until the curry thickens and cleaning up aka wash dishes from prev night and utensils knife etc haha

Served myself some rice. Stopped the fire. Scoop some onto the plate. Take another pictu- TA-DA!!

Hiya there~ I would like to update on my latest cooking challenge.

Unfortunately I didn't make any dipping sauce and I change the vegetable to carrot and string bean. With unusual substitute ingredient, I can safely assume that this is Indonesia Pancake~

Roasted Potatoes with Meat Sauce

I'm often tight of budget and constantly seek convenience (the sophisticated word for lazy *clears throat*). Regardless, in order to live my tummy needs to be filled. So I use my friend's recipes or just whip something up on my own. My ♥two fellow friends♥ been telling me to cook at home so I did today.

Roasted Potatoes with Meat Sauce
For 2-3 people

Preparation time:
Approximately 50 minutes
Main Ingredients:
2 red potatoes
Olive Oil
Sauce:
250 grams of minced meat
Half a bottle of pasta sauce
2 small pepper
125 grams button mushroom

Seasoning (use as needed):
Salt
Black Pepper
Sugar

1. Pre-heat the oven for *5 minutes at 200 degrees. While waiting, prepare potatoes and slice them. Cover the tray with aluminium foil then brush the surface with olive oil to prevent the potatoes from sticking. Brush the surface of potatoes with olive oil as well.

2. Pop the tray into the oven for *35 minutes at 200 degrees. While waiting, show off your mad knife skills. Throw the vegetables in the air, kungfu chop!

3. 5 minutes before the potatoes are done, add pasta sauce, mushrooms, small peppers, minced meat. Stir until the minced meat changes colour to brown and mushrooms soften. If required, add seasoning according to your taste.

4. Multitask! While waiting for the sauce in the pan, take the tray out, sprinkle some cheese on the top, pop it back in for 5 minutes!

5. Serve!

*This is just an estimation. Suit it to your preferences.

Handmade No.2 Sept edition~

Below are the bracelet and Mickey necklace that I made for my sis friend birthday.

The wonder of fruit cake~

Dear all~ Today I proudly present the Grape Fruit Tart that I made yesterday. I tried it this morning since I need to put it into the fridge first. It's DELICIOUS!!

The tutorial for the Fruit Tart are in the videos below:
Ingredients for Crust (pâte sucrée):
200g white flour (1 1/3 cup)
1 tbsp sugar(don't add it if you are making the savory version called pâte brisée)
1/2 tsp salt
100g unsalted butter (one stick)
1 egg whisked
1 or 2 tbsp cold water(if necessary)

Since I can't find cream or double cream in any store in my area I used the other recipe for pastry cream. I didn't add vanilla essence and liquor in My Pastry cream.

Pastry Cream Recipe:

1 1/4 cups (300 ml) milk (whole or 2%)
1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise or 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
3 large egg yolks
1/4 cup (50 grams) granulated white sugar
2 tablespoons (20 grams) all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons (20 grams) cornstarch (corn flour)
1/2 tablespoon liqueur (Grand Marnier, Brandy, Kirsch) (optional)

Pancake Secrets...... Shhhh~

If you want to make great pancakes, you should follow the instruction above.
My pancakes mixture were not as thick as the video, but I can proudly declare that they are decent.
When I made the mixture I just add in the milk, sugar, flour, pinch of salt, egg and 1 tbsp baking soda then whisked them together. Let it sit for around 15 mt and cooked it. I would said it's still delicious and the pancake rise quiet well.
Tips = Don't hesitate while adding the baking soda and use the low heat to avoid burning the pancake.

IOPE Peeling Gel Review

I have tried many different products since I was a teenager to combat acne, blackhead, white head  freckles, you name it, I have it. It was that bad! After countless trials and errors, I found that Western products worsened my skin condition. Maybe because I'm Asian  so Asian products work well on me, Korean brands in particular.

AMORE PACIFIC is a leading company in the Korean cosmetic industry. They produced popular lines such as Laneige, Etude and many more including IOPE. My face was covered with pimples. I was desperate and then Laneige came to rescue! I still get breakouts now and then but at least I managed to get rid 90% of the pimples I used to have. But... do I stop here?

I've been here for a few months and I can't go for facial like what I used to do in Malaysia so you can imagine the amount of built-up dead skin cells. This results in a very dull and rough skin. No matter how many times I used my beloved facial wash, it just won't go away, even when I used a facial brush.

My skin needs to be exfoliated with a facial wash that contains some beads maybe? I'm a big fan of Laneige. I remember trying out Laneige Peeling Gel a few times last year. Then I  went to the store to have a look again. I even read reviews about the effectiveness compared to other products of the same range.

The salesperson recommended IOPE Peeling Gel which is more expensive. Feeling adventurous, I decided to give it a try. I thought since it's under Amore Pacific, it can't be that bad, can it?

Watery consistency

With blue beads

Rub it on your skin until it turns into gunks.

How do I know if my dead skin cells are removed or if it's just a chemical reaction that turned it into gunks?
To be honest, I was skeptical as well. My moisturizer is Laneige Water Bank Essence and it's very rich. One application and my face looks oily. Upon the first usage of IOPE Peeling Gel, I found my skin to be smoother (something that I couldn't achieve by using facial wash and moisturizing masks daily) and my skin absorbed the essence so well my skin immediately dried and only after doubling the amount of essence that I usually use, I finally got that 'oily' look. Ha! My skin doesn't look that dull anymore. I've used it twice only. I'll give an update again in a few months time.

Original Price
NZ$43 = US$36 = Malaysia RM109

Will I repurchase?
I'm very satisfied with the result. I prefer this than Laneige Peeling Gel. I will update this section after using it for a longer period of time.
